The animal I have chosen to do is the Scarlet Macaw, one of the most iconic rainforest animals. The current Macaw already has a large wingspan, which allows it to escape predators easily. The macaw also has a very strong beak, which is super important as its main diet consists of mostly nuts and insects. The animal also has bright feathers, which “disrupts” predators. The first main adaptation is structural, which is a new set of feathers that helps it blend in with its new environment, a forest. These feathers are green and brown which causes the Macaw to be renamed to the Forest Macaw. A physiological adaptation that occurs is that the macaw develops a sleeping gas that can be released from under its wings. The final adaptation is larger wings, in order to fly away fast before the predator wakes up from the gas.
