The Three Toed Sloth

The three toed sloth has long limbs to help them paddle through the water and hang from branches. The three toed sloth lives in the forest canopy to be too high for snakes. They move slowly to grow moss. (My hypothesis - they don’t have to move it’s just to grow moss.) Assuming the rainforest turns into a savanna, if my hypothesis is correct, the sloth won’t need to move slow, it will need legs more adapted to land (more dog-like) and sharper claws, adapted to digging so they can live underground. The sloth will become nocturnal to avoid heat and predators. If they become nocturnal, the sloth will need better night vision so they will be super loaded with rods and fewer cones. The sloth will need to become omnivorous because there will be no mangrove leaves. They will also need to concentrate their urine to save water.
