South American rattlesnake

My animal is a South American rattlesnake. They are more active in the evening and early morning. It is a pit viper which means it has pits on its head that allow it to sense warm blooded prey. Unlike other snakes they give birth to live babies instead of laying eggs. I am making it live in the ocean because the rain forest got cut down. It will be called a water reaper. I made its soft skin hard to help it not get eaten. I gave it a big body to help it to not get eaten. I gave him gills to breathe in the water. I made the gills and moved them from the front to the back. I made his tongue a defense mechanism to protect like throwing a whip behind itself. I made his tail catch stuff smaller than it to help it eat.
