The Little Green Sunbird is a small, nectarivorous bird that is unique to the Congolian Rainforest, a dense, wet biome with plenty of rainfall and massive trees. It lives in the canopy and understory, using its hooked bill and long tongue to extract nectar from flowers. Its bright green plumage blends into the leaves, and it also eats insects and small fruits.
Because of deforestation and global warming, the rainforest will eventually be reduced to woodland and savannas, forcing the sunbird to adapt. Because nectar will be scarce, a future species, the Copper-Billed Sunbird, will evolve a larger beak to consume seeds and insects instead. With fewer tall trees, it can feed on the ground and adapt to urban environments.
