The Spectacled Owl is the only owl that lives in the Amazon rainforest. The Spectacled Owl can also be found all the way from Mexico to Northwestern Argentina. Because of Climate change, the rainforests could become swamps. This could be because of rising sea levels. These owls may need to develop certain features to help them thrive in the swamps. Firstly, the owl may develop a longer beak to help it fish. In marshlands, there are many types of fish. In the present day the owls feed on small mammals. The owl may also develop webbed feet to help it swim. Alligators may become the apex predator of the Spectacled Owl. To have defense from this predator the owl may have to feed during the day since the alligators are most active during dawn and dusk. The owls' nocturnal features would not be good for them in the Swamp.
