Today's jaguar lives near water in the colorful rainforest of the Amazon in South America. The jaguar is an apex predator with strong jaws to eat its prey on land or water. The jaguar’s yellowish-orangish body with black spots helps camouflage, so that it may pounce on its prey. The jaguar’s large, powerful body and strong legs make it a great swimmer and climber too.
Due to climate change, the future jaguar will be called the Jaglind. It will live primarily on land. The habitat will be a mixture of woodlands and Savannah. Draughts will cause rivers to dry up and have more sand and dirt. It has a smaller body and is no longer an apex predator. Its body is orange-covered with green moss spots to camouflage and store water. The Jaglind also has a monkey-like tail for better climbing. The Jaglind will survive because of these future adaptations.
