Neon tetra are spectacular fish! They live in the Amazon Basin (in parts of Columbia, Peru, and Brazil). Neon Tetra in the wild can live up to 8 years, 3-5 in an aquarium, and 6-7 with proper care from humans. Because Neon Tetra are only 1.5 inches long there are many larger fish that prey on them. In the future I think some fish will grow even bigger; to protect the Neon Tetra from larger species they will grow legs, claws, lungs, eyelids, thick skin instead of scales, become bigger, and evolve to different colors. These adaptations will protect the Neon Tetra from predators within the water. Once they get outside they can camouflage with the plants around them and look for food. The Neon tetra will both walk on land and swim underwater without being afraid! I think these adaptations will help Neon Tetra survive in the future.
