Black spider monkeys are found in the forest canopy of the Amazon rain
forests in Central and South America. They have a slender body with thin limbs
and a long prehensile tail, acting as the fifth limb. Males have glands on their
chest that give out scent and mark their territory. They have no thumbs. They
are arboreal.
Future Adaptations for survival.
Become terrestrial.
They will grow thumbs to provide them with a better grip on land.
This will enable them to walk on two limbs.
They will use the other two limbs to gather food.
The scent glands will be in their tails which will eject a liquid in case of danger
from predators. Both males and females will have this.
The tip of the tail will have sensory cells to detect food underground.
Skin/fur will change to light brown and help them stay cool.
