The astounding African Leopard, which lives in Southern Africa, has many adaptations that assist with hunting. Their dotted coats help them camouflage in the grass and their shoulder blades contain special entheses for stronger climbing muscles. Though they spend most of their time in trees, leopards are proficient swimmers.
Due to climate change, Africa is expected to experience substantial flooding, droughts and rising temperatures, forcing the leopards to adapt. The ground will be unable to absorb water, causing the water level to ascend. Therefore, the leopards will have to develop stronger limbs to significantly enhance their swimming. The increase of temperature will cause the leopard to have less concentrated fur, and due to flooding and droughts, populations of trees, which the leopard spend a preponderance of their time in, will decline, which will lead to the leopard’s climbing ability to become unessential, so their tail, used for balance, will shorten.
