The fire bellied toad resides in high altitude mountain lakes or ponds. Its red belly is used to warn potential predators that the frog may be poisonous. In the future, the fire-bellied toad may grow a tail, and develop an icy belly. Its new habitat will be underwater, because due to the ozone layer making heat, climate change occurred, which then melted the ice caps and flooded its home, making the toad adapt to water, because of how long it has been in an underwater habitat.
