Melanosuchus Niger, or the Black Caiman is located in the Amazon River Basin. However, climate change will dry most of the water and leave the Amazon a dry savannah. To adapt to this new environment, the Black Caiman could evolve into the White Caiman, which has more adaptations to the future Amazon. It will develop longer legs with an increase in muscle mass to better catch prey on land rather than in the water, and its claws will no longer be webbed to better grip the ground. Its scales will change to a tan color to reflect off the sun's light and camouflage in the now grassy environment. The Caiman’s eyes will become more similar to that of a hawk to see further away and see better in the daylight. Its behavior will change from hunting fish in the water to waiting behind grass to ambush small mammals like rodents.
