Spider monkeys are tropical rainforest mammals that live an arboreal lifestyle. Adaptations like having a prehensile tail, rotating shoulders, extremely long limbs, and small bodies help them survive in the treetops. For example, their tail acts as a 5th limb which helps them grab food and swing from tree to tree. Unfortunately deforestation is destroying spiders monkeys main habitat-trees. Spider monkeys are predicted to end up living on the rainforest floor so they’ll need a bigger and more muscular body since they’ll no longer be as agile. Spider monkeys will also be equipped with a small tail, or even no tail due to the fact they no longer need to reach for food in the trees. Finally, spider monkeys will have shorter and larger limbs since they again, no longer need to reach into trees to get food.
