Right now, jaguars are the apex predator in the rainforest. Their many unique characteristics help them to be that. They have claws that they sheath when needed, a spotted coat to stay hidden in the jungle’s dense undergrowth, and they have lightning fast reflexes and speed. Their habitat is the Amazon rainforest which is the largest rainforest in the world. Due to climate change, that rainforest could turn into a savannah. The jaguars’ traits are not suited for that. They would start getting long, streamlined bodies that can move with the wind, longer and thinner legs to run faster, and keen eyesight to help see in the grass. They would start to look more like their distant relatives the cheetahs. I believe the jaguars will be able to do this over a thousand years. They would be called celeritate which in latin means speed or fast.
