The first drawing shows the Toucan in its natural habitat, the Amazon Rain forest. The Toucan's claws let it grip onto tree rooftops where it spends it's time. The Toucan's large beak reaches food on branches scares off predators. The beak also helps to cool or heat the Toucan by restricting blood flow to the beak. Because of the beak's size it unbalances the bird when flying. It's bright colors also attract mates. The second drawing shows how climate change will affect the Toucan. Since the rain forest will become dried out the Toucan will develop a Tan color for its new surroundings and its beak will shrink to allow the bird to fly more easily and longer. Because all the rain forest trees were cut down the Toucan will develop paws to travel better on the ground and develop teeth to scare predators and catch prey.
