The Amazon Climbing Salamander is a nocturnal salamander that is between 1.2 to 1.9 inches in size. It eat small insects and has an orange color showing its toxicity. it lives in the forest canopy and is at risk from deforestation.
My hypothetical adaptation for the Amazon Climbing Salamander would be called the Amazon Burrowing Salamander, as due to reduced tree cover during the day It will go underground. Because of reduced rainfall the salamander may hibernate during the dry season. it will be much larger to reduce its metabolism and this poses less risk to it because many of the things that would eat it have significantly reduced populations. It would still eat insects as their populations would be affected less dramatically, but it would now eat insects on the forest floor rather than in the canopy as it is now too large to climb.
