When the monsoon rainforests of northern Australia become shrubs and savanas, the brother species of the coastal taipan, the inland taipan will likely dominate due to it currently living in similar conditions. I predict that the snake will migrate into the plateaus of northern Australia and the beaches and far coasts, creating the two species. The two species will undergo many adaptations to help survive. For the highland taipan, some examples are color change for camouflage, more segmented spine for extra flexibility and speed, and an overall more aggressive nature for catching prey. Some for the golden taipan include color change, stretched skull for digging in sand, and compressor muscle for spitting venom in defense. This may take many years to take place due to migration and adaptations, but if the rainforests change this is a likely outcome for the taipan.
