Currently, the Poison Dart frog lives in the understory layer of the Amazon Rainforest, where their bright colors and strong poison help it blend in with brush and survive the predators in its moist environment. However, as time goes on, the Amazon rainforest is going to undergo more deforestation, causing it to lose its moisture, which may lead it to be susceptible to wildfires and other natural disasters. To survive these changes, the poison dart frog will change their smooth, brightly colored skin for a darker, spikier, more leaf colored design, helping them blend in with the dry and burnt remains of trees and brush. They will also develop changes in their ability to climb on surfaces, such as sharp claws and their original sticky resin to climb onto dryer and rougher surfaces. Their retinas will also change shape to effectively see insects in this brighter environment.
