With global warming, the environment will change from a rainforest into a savanna. Savannas are far drier and more sparsely populated by flora and fauna. The spectacled owl will need to adapt to survive such drastically different environs. Unlike the lush greens of the rainforest, the savanna is full of light colored grasses. To better camouflage, the owls that have lighter feather colors are more likely to survive. Because of the lower population density of the savanna, spectacled owls may have to adapt to consuming less nutrients. This may lead to a size reduction in the overall owl populus. The spectacled owl currently nests in hollow trees. Some owls may have to find other ways of creating nests such as cup or ground nests. Because there is a subspecies of the spectacled owl that currently lives in the savanna, there is a fair likelihood that the spectacled owl will survive.
