Poison dart frogs live in the humid rainforests of Central and South America, from the Amazon Basin to Central America. These tropical forests provide a lush, wet environment, with the frogs often found on the forest floor near leaf litter, fallen logs, and small pools of water. As temperatures rise due to climate change, these frogs may face drier, hotter conditions that threaten their moist habitat. Deforestation and invasive species could also disrupt their ecosystem. In response, poison dart frogs may evolve adaptations to tolerate temperature changes, such as altering body temperature regulation or seeking cooler areas. They may also shift their diet if insects become scarce, adapting to different food sources. Their toxin production could become stronger or more diverse, defending against new predators or diseases. In the future, poison dart frogs may also develop scales to better retain moisture and protect themselves in changing environments.
