My creature is a macaw. He has sharp claws and a strong curved yellow beak to bite into fruit and nuts. He is a colorful bright parrot. When icebergs melted his rainforest flooded. There was no more land at all so he flew to freshwater, but other predators still live there. In order to survive he changed how he looked. He kept his curved yellow beak to eat fish and protect himself from other predators. He grew gills to breathe under the freshwater and swims for up to 200 hours before he has to rest and take breaks. He got colorful scales to protect his skin and his body. He no longer has colorful feathers so it doesn't matter that he gets wet. He does not have lungs because he could not breathe under the freshwater. He does not have wings to fly because he cannot fly under the water.
