The Mata mata turtle is found in the Amazon river system of the eastern Guianas. The Amazon river is going to change due to climate change because it is drying up. South America's drought was much stronger and longer this year. Adding even more heat to the Amazon, so by 3025 there won’t be any water. The mata mata turtle's habitat is going to turn into just dirt in about 1,000 years. At some point the mata mata turtle is going to be just a normal turtle on land. The body is going to change, its shell is going to smooth out and turn brown, its mouth is going to become harder and pointier, it is going to lose its webbed feet. That is how the mata mata turtle's habitat is going to change due to climate change.
