The sloth bear lives in the rainforests of India. Its habitat has mostly trees and different fruits that the sloth bear likes to eat. The sloth bear has black fur with a U-shape on its chest. The sloth bear has sharp claws to climb trees, to attack prey, and defend itself from predators. Today's sloth bear weighs 200-300 pounds and can stand up on its two back feet to appear bigger than other animals.
In the future, the sloth bears habitat will have less trees and be more of a dry woodlands because of climate change and deforestation. This means the sloth bear will have less hiding spots from predators. To adapt, the sloth bear's fur will develop spots like a jaguar to camouflage from predators and prey. It will also weigh less and have a smaller body because of less food. These adaptations will help the sloth bear!
