In today’s tropical rainforest, you’ll find a small brown creature known as a “Capybara.” The Capybara is certainly not impractical, but as time passes, the Capybara may need to adapt to our future environments. With ocean levels rapidly climbing, the Capybara may need to adapt to flooded surroundings. To counter this, the Capybara could eventually grow webbing to efficiently swim through the heightened water levels. Another example on how the Capybara may adapt is to grow strengthened back leg muscles to improve future running and swimming capabilities. Additionally, the Capybara could adapt by growing thinner hair. This helps reduce heat and humidity trapped under the fur, maximizing airflow. Finally, the Capybara could adapt to grow sharper teeth, improving grass consumption, defense from predators, and potentially becoming omnivores. Conclusively, the Capybara will need to ultimately make some drastic changes to adapt to our rising temperatures and ocean levels.
