Snowshoe hares are a great example of 21 different species that change color from brown in the summer to white in the winter to protect themselves from dangerous predatory encounters. Meet Roishy, my beautiful Snowshoe hare. She weighs 3.3 lbs. She eats grass and leaves in the summers and twigs and plants in the winters. She takes about 20 days or so to change colors (brown to white and back). In the near future (depicted by the "After state"), her species may experience issues in changing colors or may take more time to change colors. It may happen that a beautiful hare like her stays brown for most of the time in a year due to the impacts of climate change. This will likely be due to the late arrival of winters. At a later point in her generation ("Later state"), she may turn dark brown during summers.
