The Capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) adapted to a flooded rainforest due to climate change. The Capybara would change to become more like a sea lion, its fur and its type of skin which becomes a thick layer of blubber just beneath the skin which acts as insulation, keeping them warm in cold water. The Capybara gained whiskers, lost its hair and gained an extra toe/finger for mobility as well so that it can live in water much more efficiently. The digestive system changed because the Capybara would start to eat little animals because its change of environment would force it start eating more than just only plants. The Capybara already previously had webbed feet/hands but due to being forced to be in contact with water more the capybara developed webbed toes to chase after prey in their new environment. All these adaptations allowed the Capybara to survive in its new environment.
