In the present, Brown headed spider monkeys swing from branch to branch in the canopy of the rain forest. They have a prehensile tail that acts as a fifth limb and long limbs to help them move through the canopy. The rain forest may become a more grassland-like biome due to climate change and human activity. In response to this, the brown headed spider monkey will adopt proportions similar to a baboon, with shorter limbs to walk. They will lose their prehensile tail and have lighter fur, that would blend with a dry grassland better than black. Since they would not be able to hide in the canopy from predators, the brown headed spider monkey would adapt large ears to hear predators from far away.
