Congolian Rainforest Leopard

One of the world's largest and most diverse rainforests, the Congo, is being negatively affected by climate change. Plant and animal populations adapted to stable conditions are being impacted by the disruption to the ecosystem in the form of higher temperatures and changing rainfall patterns. Drought and extreme weather conditions increase the chances of forest fires, which further degrade the ecosystem. Also, the distribution of species is altered by climate change, posing a threat to biodiversity. Deforestation is aggravated by human activities like logging and agriculture, which decrease the capacity of the forest to absorb carbon and exacerbate climate change. Wildlife like leopards have less room to hunt or rest since their habitats are being reduced and there is less prey to hunt.
