The James's Flamingo is a sympatric bird, found among flocks of other South American species. They are tall, beautiful birds and grow up to 3 feet, known for their unique curved and shorter bill, and lack of hind toes. Like all flamingos, their long necks have 19 elongated neck vertebrae for filter feeding. Additionally, the pink color comes from a diet of shrimp/plankton. In the future, several things will change. Their previous elegant, bright pink bodies will become stumpier, and grey. Their legs will develop strong muscles for running long distances. With the absence of shrimp and plankton, they will start feeding on small rodents, and they will have serrated teeth. Without the need for filtering, their necks will shorten. They will also lose their wings because they rely heavily on ground travel and their muscular legs. Their eyes will enlarge to respond to danger faster.
