Descending from the Fire Salamander, the Ember-Tongue Salamander has adapted to live in a dry rainforest, where water is extremely hard to find, unlike its ancestors. But when the environment changed and those means of water disappeared, only the salamanders that adapted to these rapidly changing environments lived. Now, the Ember-Tongue has heat-resistant, scaly skin to prevent dehydration and a long, hypersensitive tongue that can detect underground water, while also reaching water buried in cracks. Since it is daytime, with fierce heat, it burrows itself into the cracked earth and emerges at night in order to prey on insects and drought-resistant plants, all while remaining hydrated. The Ember-Tongue Salamander has also adapted it's looks, blending it's skin to the cracked, and dry ground below.
