South American Tapir is a herbivorous mammal with a stocky body and short legs, which provides buoyancy and aids swimming. They have four toes on their fore feet and three on their hind, to help navigate through dense vegetation and soft ground. An elongated and flexible snout helps them grasp leaves and fruits from trees, and breathe underwater. They have a distinctive coat pattern of brown/black coloration with white markings on the face, throat, chest, and limbs.
In the future, they will evolve and become smaller with shorter limbs adapted for fast running and agility in swimming. They will have three toes on both front and back to help walk on dryer and open habitats. Their snout will become longer and sticky as they will adapt their diet and use their snout to feed on ants/termites. Their markings will disappear to help them camouflage and evade the predators.
