Deforestation and climate change will cause the amazon rainforest to dry out and become a savanna. The black caiman is accustomed to the moist climate and the Amazon river. They often swim and mostly eat fish and other small animals. However, in a savanna, the caiman's legs would have to be elongated in order to hunt for food. The skin would be thicker for moisture retention and lighter colored in order to blend in. The tail would also be shorter, less for swimming and more for balance.
