My favorite rainforest animal is the capybara. They live for about 12 years and weigh 60-174 pounds. Capybaras eat grass, berries, and tree barks. After global warming, the earth’s temperature rises and the land dries up. The trees no longer grow and the rainforest might turn into a savannah with little rain. The capybaras have to adapt to the new environment to survive. They might grow bigger ears to release extra body heat in the hot and dry habitat. They might grow a hump in the back to store water in the body. They might eat mainly grass because there are not many different kinds of plants that can grow on a drier land. But if the environment changes faster than the future capybara can adapt, this species of animal may not live and may become extinct. We should act to protect the rainforest before it’s too late.
