The Pygmy Three-toed Sloth is a species in the family Bradypodidae. Pygmy Sloths are primarily located in the red mangrove forests and mainly feast on mangrove leaves in the trees. They have three claws on each hand and leg to make it effortless to climb trees and grab leaves. In the future, there will be a lack of trees from deforestation and the climates in forests will be much drier than today. For a sloth to adapt to these conditions it might have to crawl on the ground much more to reach trees to eat from and bodies of water to drink from. Pygmy Three-toed Sloths may also have to change their diet to eating plants that grow on the ground or near water except for leaves that grow in trees. If Pygmy Three-toed Sloths don’t adapt to deforestation many sloth species may end up extinct.
