Forest elephants currently inhabit the West and Central African rainforests, which are predicted to become savannas due to climate change. They have long, straight tusks for protection and slender trunks for navigating dense underbrush and grabbing leaves from trees. Due to climate change, the jungle will change into a Savanna. The Forest Elephant will adapt to this new savanna habitat by gaining more useful structural, physiological, and behavioral adaptations. I predict the elephant will increase skin wrinkles for water retention, acquire even larger ears for temperature regulation, obtain enhanced night vision through more rods and cones, and shift to mixed feeding to adapt to changing food sources. It will also become a tan, sandy color to camouflage with the savanna habitat
