Global Warming Survivors

Harpy eagles are the fearsome gray and white raptors of the Amazon rainforest. Standing at a height of 35 - 41 inches, these legendary birds have a diet consisting mainly of large tree-dwelling mammals such as sloths and monkeys. In their current rainforest environment, harpy eagles nest in the high canopy. However, as climate worsens and global warming becomes a larger threat, their luscious rainforest homes may turn to an arid wasteland filled with leafless trees and rocks. To adapt to these conditions, the harpy eagle will turn a shade of brown to camouflage itself in the leafless trees and maintain parts of gray to blend into rocks. They will also adapt to have webbed feet and feathers with a layer of oil for swimming because of rising sea levels. With these adaptations, the harpy eagle might be able to survive the barren place their home is currently becoming.
