The Caluromys Philander lives in trees in subtropical, rain, and secondary forests. They’re omnivores with a well-developed colon and caecum, and readily eat whatever’s available. They have body markings, wide eyes, a brown coat, and a hairless tail. In the future, forests--rainforests especially--might morph into savannas. Surviving members may have green and yellow coats to mimic grass. Their current tuft-like ears, stealth, and nocturnal vision will still give them an advantage. They may have larger, sharper, and stronger claws for burrowing underground. They may opt to live under areas with nearby vegetation and dense grass, allowing them camouflage when they’re out and a relatively stable food source. They’ll aim to eat dewy plants, but will also have a salivary gland made to digest drier plants. Unfortunately, their litter size will decrease due to food scarcity. They may develop backward facing pouches, so that soil doesn’t get on their young.
