Scarlet macaws, brightly colored birds from forests of Central and South America, are bound to evolve over thousands of years of continuous climate change.
Currently living in tropical forests, which are alive with multitudes of species, scarlet macaws consume berries, nuts, beetles, and seeds. They have bright feathers to attract mates and hide among the colors of their forested surroundings.
In a few thousand years, their feathers will lose vibrancy to blend in with the bleak urbanized landscape. The beetles will become their only source of protein as other food sources will be extinct.
The scarlet macaw's beak will evolve into a thinner and sharper profile in order for the birds to pick up and collect beetles from the ultra-industrialized surroundings.
To conclude, scarlet macaws will change in many aspects in the future, including food sources, the color of their feathers, and beak shapes.
