Squirrel Monkey Adaptations

Studies have shown that the Amazon Rainforest is continuing to experience high temperatures due to climate change, which will cause the Amazon’s squirrel monkeys to adapt to survive. First, they will reshape their small ears into larger ones, creating heat dissipation, which cools down their bodies in high temperature areas. Another adaptation, claws, will make it feasible to gather food from the ground. Then they will develop purely yellow fur, as a result of urinating on themselves. The act of the squirrel monkeys urinating on themselves acts as another body temperature regulator. As climate change and deforestation continue, squirrel monkeys in the Amazon Rainforest will grow shorter tails and much bendier spines, in turn allowing them to glide across their habitat.
