Hummingbirds are small, unique birds found in Southern Alaska, Tierra del Fuego, and America. They weigh between 2 to 20 grams, have long beaks and fast wings. These features help them hover while drinking nectar from flowers like bee balm. Their small bodies help them survive in different climates. If temperatures are most likely to get warmer, in the future, more flowers may grow, giving hummingbirds more food and helping their population grow. Some may also start eating small insects. However, Urban Heat Loss can cause sudden temperature drops, which can slow flower growth and damage plants like bee balm, making it harder for hummingbirds to survive. To help them, we can plant flowers like bee balm, columbine, and coral bells. By planting more flowers, it can save many hummingbirds to survive. Through these changes, hummingbirds will remain remarkable survivors, proving that adaptation is key to survival with our help.
