The okapi lives in the humid rainforests of the Congo and has special traits to survive. Its oily skin helps waterproof it, keeping it safe from too much moisture. The okapi also has great hearing, which helps it listen for predators or prey. Its zebra-like stripes make it blend into the trees and patches of light, making it harder to see. Although, in the future, if the Congo becomes drier and colder, the okapi will need to adapt. It may lose its stripes, helping it blend into a less forested environment. Its eyesight could improve, allowing it to spot predators from farther away. It might also grow thicker fur to stay warm and keep moisture in its skin. These changes would help the okapi survive in its new environment. Even though its habitat may change, these adaptations would allow the okapi to continue thriving in the wild.
