Ring tailed lemurs live in the rainforests of Madagascar. The current environmental status involves climbing trees and staying above the ground to hunt for food. Their diet involves plants, insects, and small vertebrates. They are the most territorial of lemurs and spend a lot of time on the ground, but go to trees for protection. Unfortunately, due to climate change and deforestation, in the future it will be much more difficult for them to find enough trees to easily hunt. They currently have traits that are helpful for climbing, which makes their present day structures stronger, but once there are less trees they will need to adapt to a full life on the ground. They will need to change their diets to insects and plants found at ground level.
