In the first drawing, the current orangutan lives in the rainforest. They primarily live in the forest canopy, with them staying in trees and their reddish-brown fur providing camouflage. They’re mostly solitary and use their long arms to swing and navigate branches easily. In the second drawing, the adapted orangutan is now named the “Desertaugan.” The rainforest has turned into a desert due to climate change over the next thousands of years. It has shifted its behavior, relying on bigger and faster legs to walk and run on the ground. They have efficient fat storage for metabolic water. They also have closed nostrils and thicker skin in order to withstand the extreme heat, dehydration, and scarce food. They have also developed larger ears for heat dissipation. Their genetic changes include them developing more cognitive abilities like being able to use sticks for food.
