Red Uakari Adaptations

The Red Uakari is a small monkey from rainforests. Its current adaptations are its vibrant and bald face signaling its good health with its strong jaw muscles. It also has a lean body and shorter tail to help with climbing. Climate change in the Amazon is severe, causing heavy droughts, wildfires and deforestation, affecting the environment. Slowly, this environment will become like a dry and hot savannah, decreasing in plant life and water. There will also be room for more predators and different foods. To adapt, the Uakari would need some crucial changes. They would first need longer limbs for running around the environment along with a shorter tail. Its bald face would increase in melanin, making them darker to adapt to heat. Its diet would become omnivorous, consisting of smaller animals and various plants. This would help the survive and adapt to the changed climate of the Amazon.
