The blue poisonous dart frog, found in the rainforests of Suriname, is known for its bright blue skin and strong poison. Its colorful body warns predators not to eat it, and its sticky toes help it climb wet leaves and trees. It lives in warm, humid areas where it can easily find insects. Climate change is threatening the frog’s rainforest home. Hotter temperatures and less rain can dry out the forest floor and reduce insect populations. Deforestation destroys the shady, damp spots the frogs need to survive and lay their eggs. In the future, the blue poison dart frog may develop new ways to survive. It might grow thicker skin to retain moisture or become more active at night when it’s cooler. The frog could also change its diet or breeding habits to cope with a warmer, drier, and more unpredictable rainforest environment.
