Okapis have many adaptations for survival, some being camouflage stripes, large ears for detecting predators, an oily coat for staying dry, and a long tongue for stripping leaves. Some of the adaptations are subject to change in the distant future due to climate change, one of which being the need for the Okapis oily coat. In the future, the climate may become more dry and rain will become scarce. The need for protection against rain will become secondary. Another adaptation that is subject to change is camouflage stripes. In a couple hundred years, Zebras may go extinct which would eliminate the need for the Okapais camouflage stripes. The Okapis will need to adapt to the new environment in order to survive. Another adaptation that may happen is the development of longer and stronger legs making it easier forOkapis to run and jump their way to scarce water in the future.
