The South American Taper lives in the Amazon rain forest. Lots of the Rainforest trees are being cut down and building roads. Some adaptations of the South American have a thick and dark coat and are also large in size. Some future adaptations are different color coats. This is important because it will blend in more to its current environment. This will help for them to not get hunted down as much, and to be camouflaged. I also think another future adaptation for this animal could be that they adapt a hard shell. Since more roads/highways are being built there is a higher chance that this animal will get hit by a car. So a harder shell will prevent them from getting hurt. I also think that they will adapt to be smaller so they can hide in very small spaces and areas. These will help the animal survive.
