The sloth (Bradypus) is a slow-moving vertebrate found in the tropical canopy of South America. These nocturnal mammals weigh up to 17 pounds and spend their lives in trees to avoid predators like jaguars and ocelots. Sloths live in tropical forests throughout much of central South America. They are known for spending nearly all of their time in trees and moving very slowly. They live in the canopy layer in the rainforest.
In the future they sloths will live in open water. They will develop sleek gray fur, webbed appendages for swimming, and the ability to move with significant speed. Living primarily on the ground and in water, their diet will shift to include chameleons and salamanders.
