Sloths (Genus Bradypus) are slow-moving, nocturnal mammals found in South American rainforests. These furry vertebrates spend their lives in trees, using their sense of touch to stay safe from predators like jaguars and eagles. Today’s sloths live about 30 years, eat leaves and fruit, and often have green algae growing in their fur.
In the future, I believe sloths will develop much stronger arms and legs to stay safely in the treetops. They will grow longer, brownish-gray fur without the cracks that allow algae to grow. To better spot danger, they will evolve much sharper eyesight and hearing. These future sloths will become expert sleepers, waking up only once a day to snack on leaves. These changes will help sloths stay protected and healthy in their forest homes for years to come.
