Jaguars, the biggest species of cat in the Americas, are found in Central and South American tropical rainforest, Although jaguars are not endangered species, they are threatened by habitat loss and are considered near threatened. Jaguars have a rosette pattern on their fur needed for camouflage in dense forests Their muscular physique benefits them when hunting big prey. Jaguars hunt in the day and at night, travelling long distances. Habitat loss might limit food access, therefore, a smaller and thinner build will benefit them with the lack of resources and heat dispersion. Smaller fangs and claws will allow them to hunt smaller prey which will be more accesible. Due to deforestation, their fur pattern will not be necessary for camouflage, and rising temperature will cause them to develop less dense, lighter colored fur to reflect light and bigger ears. Hunting mostly at night would benefit them due to high temperatures.
