There have passed about 2,000 years since the Cotorra Puertorriqueña we currently know existed. Its old habitat, a rainforest, has changed into a drier and more broken habitat with scattered trees, because of higher temperatures, less rain falls, and stronger hurricanes hit the forest. Many coastal areas flooded, forcing the species to move more into the land and to higher areas. My future creature has a thinner body, feathers with less density, and colors more dull and opaque to reflect heat and blend into the dry vegetation. Its wings and tail are longer, to help it fly long distances between habitats. Its beak is stronger so it can eat the harder fruits that have adapted to survive in this changing environment.
